Summer Cocktails – perfect refreshment on sea

Elevate the summer experience with a selection of delightful cocktails that perfectly complement the sun, sea, and salty breeze. From classic mojitos to tropical rum punches, there’s a cocktail for every taste. We bring you a selection of summer cocktails which are the perfect companions for a day of fun in the sun on the open water.

 

GRAPEFRUIT NEGRONI

This fresh and fragrant cocktail consists of versatile grapefruit which complements the botanical gin, floral and herbal vermouth, and Campari’s bitter orange notes.

Ingredients:

  1.  1 ounce/ 30 ml fresh ruby red grapefruit juice
  2. 1.5 ounces / 45 ml gin (eg. Tanqueray Ten Gin, Monkey 47 Gin)
  3. 1 ounce/ 30 ml sweet vermouth (eg. Carpano Antica)
  4. 0.5 ounce/ 15 ml Campari
  5. Garnish: long, wide swath of grapefruit peel

 

Steps:

  • Add fresh juice into a shaker
  • Add the gin, sweet vermouth and Campari to the shaker with ice, and shake until well-chilled
  • Place one large block of ice in a rocks glass and curl the grapefruit peel around the inside of the glass
  • Strain into the prepared glass

 

APEROL SPRITZ

Aperol, bright orange apéritif. The brand describes the flavours as, “zesty orange with complex herbal scents harmonised with a touch of vanilla.”. Mixed with sparkly Italian Prosecco provides a perfect refreshment for hot summer days at sea.

Ingredients:

  1. 2 ounces/ 60ml Aperol
  2. 3 ounces Prosecco/ 90ml –  We recommend choosing a dry (brut) Prosecco so the drink doesn’t turn out too syrupy or sweet (eg. Ca’ di Alte Prosecco Spumante Extra Dry)
  3. 1 ounce Soda water
  4. Slice of fresh orange – classic garnish for an Aperol Spritz.

 

This cocktail is unbelievably easy to make.

You’ll simply fill a wine glass with ice, then add Aperol, Prosecco, club soda and a slice of orange. Cheers!

 

PIMM’S

Pimm’s cup cocktail is a true taste of summer. This fruity punch with lemonade, fresh mint leaves, cucumber, orange slices and strawberries will be a crowd favourite. 

Ingredients:

  1. 6.5 ounces / 200ml Pimm’s No. 1
  2. 20 ounces/ 600ml lemonade
  3. Mint, sliced cucumber, sliced orange and strawberries

 

Steps:

  • Fill a jug with ice and pour over the Pimm’s and lemonade
  • Give it a good stir then add the mint, cucumber and fruit

 

PALOMA

While the Margarita is widely renowned as one of the most beloved cocktails, when it comes to iconic tequila-based drinks, the Paloma stands out as a strong contender. This cocktail holds the title of Mexico’s national drink, adding an authentic touch.

Ingredients:

  1. 2 ounces/ 60ml tequila –  Blanco tequila is the traditional choice ( eg. Casamigos Blanco Tequila) , but lightly aged Reposado also makes a fine drink ( eg. Patron Reposado Tequila)
  2. 1/2 ounce/ 15 ml lime juice, freshly squeezed
  3. 4 ounces/ 120ml Grapefruit soda, chilled, to top
  4. Pinch of salt
  5. Garnish: lime wheel

 

Steps:

  • Add the tequila, lime juice, and pinch of salt to the glass, and fill with ice
  • Top with grapefruit soda, and stir briefly and gently to combine
  • Garnish with a lime wheel.
